It takes time to integrate these skills into daily practice. Many clinicians appreciate extra support as they work to deepen competence over time. We’ve created multiple avenues for learners to do this.
1) Training:Through our sister company, SOUND Life Learning, we offer our on-demand training, Integrated Recovery Principles for Co-occurring Disorders. We are currently beta testing the new system which houses our school and plan to launch our programming to the greater public in early 2026. This training has been approved for 14 CEU’s through the NASW Washington State Chapter.
Agencies & other groups are also encouraged to visit SOUND Life Learning for more information about programs to meet their unique training needs. Special agency pricing is available on bulk & custom packages.
2) Individual Supervision:
As a Washington State approved supervisor, Jeff offers a limited number of individual primary and secondary supervision slots for dedicated, individualized support of Washington State associate level clinicians seeking hours for independent or advanced licensure. Sessions are available for clinicians interested in working with substance use, serious mental illness, CBT for Psychosis (CBTp), or developing competence in general CBT or ACT-based approaches for a general population.
Who can join: Washington State associate level clinicians seeking hours for independent or advanced licensure. No training completion is required for individual supervision.
Cost: $120/hour
When: Weekly, as decided by licensure candidate & supervisor
Where: HIPAA-secure Zoom
3) Group Supervision - Small Group (IRP Focus):
Group supervision provides a supportive, structured, weekly small group experience for Washington State associate level clinicians seeking supervision hours toward independent or advanced licensure. In this group, attendees will further explore topics from the IRP approach, discuss cases, and have an opportunity to ask questions. Our group supervision is limited to 6 supervisees, allowing more personal interaction and more active engagement than our group consulting, and is offered at a reduced rate to better support clinicians early in their career.
Agency sponsored supervision groups welcome.
This is secondary supervision. Participants must have a primary supervisor.
Who can join: Any WA State associate level clinician who has completed the IRP training. Must have a primary supervisor in place.
Cost: $240/month subscription (auto-renew, cancel anytime)
When: New group starts early 2026, Tuesdays 5pm (PST)
Where: HIPAA-secure Zoom
Frequency: 4x/month
Occasionally, sessions may be rescheduled to another date due to illness or university commitments. All attempts will be made to offer advance notice and reschedule on the 5th Tuesday of a month, if one exists, or otherwise.
Session length: 60 minutes
Note for LMHC associates: According to WA State law, participation in supervision groups will not count toward required 100 supervision hours if more than 2 associates are present (WAC 246-809-210 / 230). Please see individual supervision.
4) Individual Consultation:
We offer personalized and focused support for clinicians and others who work with substance use and/or serious mental illness. At SOUND Life Recovery, you may hear us refer to primary vs secondary supervision. For our purposes, here is how we define those terms:
Primary supervision: Supervision with a main supervisor ("primary supervisor") who has primary responsibility for the supervision of the associate licensee. Primary supervision may support the associate with caseload and treatment plan review, theory and practice, relevant WA State rules & laws, standards of practice, coordination of work with other professionals and parties, relevant professional literature and research, and other therapy related issues. If SLR is acting as secondary, the primary supervisor has final authority if there is not agreement between supervisors in a therapeutic recommendation. As a primary supervisor, SLR only supervises the care of pre-identified clients noted on a formal client list and established with the supervising therapist.
Secondary supervision: Supervision for licensure candidates who already have a primary supervisor in place. Secondary supervision may provide secondary guidance for all areas addressed by a primary supervisor. One of the main purposes for choosing secondary supervision with SOUND Life Recovery is to deepen understanding of general CBT, ACT, CBT for Psychosis (CBTp), and an integrated approach to the treatment of co-occurring disorders to further enhance the supervisory experience they receive with their primary supervisor. When acting as a secondary supervisor, SOUND Life Recovery welcomes communication & collaboration to include the primary supervisor at any point for the benefit of the supervisee and their clients.

We quite enjoy the process of supervision and feel a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to our supervisees. We’re genuinely honored to be a part of their professional development journey.
And…it’s just plain fun to learn together.
Jeff is a Washington State approved supervisor and has offered supervision both independently and through his work with the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry. Along with primary supervision of both agency & non-agency clinicians, Jeff often provides secondary supervision to agency clinicians who already have an on-site primary supervisor in place.
So each individual case of a supervisee can receive the attention it may need, we consider our group supervision to be secondary in nature and require group supervisees to have a primary supervisor in place. This primary supervisor can be an agency or independent supervisor, or individual supervision sessions with us.
We formalize our supervisory relationship with a supervision agreement. In this agreement, we establish shared terms for our arrangement together. That agreement can be read here.
Slots are limited.

The first step is to review the information on this page, including the links to our current agreements related to the service you are seeking, so you establish whether we seem to be a good match for you.
The following will direct you to where you need to be for the next step:

Supervision, individual:There are a few steps to applying for supervision:
Intro appointment: Make a complimentary 15 minute introductory appointment. This assists both supervisee and supervisor in assessing “right fit” to best support supervisee’s professional development. It also saves the supervisee time filling out an application unnecessarily if either party feels the pairing isn’t the right fit. You can self schedule that appointment here.
Application: The 1:1 supervision application can be found here.
Waitlist: If all spots are filled, you are welcome to add your name to our 1:1 supervision waitlist here. We'll contact you when a spot opens up in an existing group or when we open a new group. At that point, you will have 5 calendar days to fill out an application before we offer the spot to the next applicant. You are welcome to begin completing your application now, saving it as you go. Clinicians interested on being on our waitlist must complete this waitlist form, regardless of initiating a full application.

Consultation, individual:There are two steps to arranging a consultation appointment.
Request a consultation appointment here. We attempt to keep our consult appointments on Mondays each week. Once requested, we’ll review the request and get back to you to confirm. If your schedule won’t allow a Monday session, please contact us at 360-340-9288 or admin@soundliferecovery.com and we’ll try to find another time that works.
Once on our calendar, we will send you - to the email used to set your appointment - an invitation to join our secure client portal. Here you will find a very brief consultation agreement waiting for you to sign. This agreement covers issues such as our role as a consultant only, confidentiality, and financial requirements. Unless we update the terms of this agreement, this needs only be signed prior to your first session.
Consultation, large group (IRP Focus): An invitation to our large education & consultation group is available at the completion of the IRP course. After course completion, clinicians can sign up for this group immediately or at a later date.

Absolutely. Agencies & other groups have the option to purchase licenses in bulk by selecting the "Buy licenses" link found under the "Add to cart" option. If licenses aren't the best option for your team - or you wish for a live training in an online format - custom arrangements to address your team's unique needs are available. Agencies also may arrange for team members to join our twice monthly large consultation group or receive private group consultation. More information about the various options for purchase can be found later in our FAQ.
If you're interested in custom orders, we'd love to hear from you—just fill out this form and we'll reach out to begin exploring possibilities with you. -
Great question, and one we hear a lot.
Our healthcare attorneys recommend that clinicians always carry a professional liability insurance policy at the minimum coverage of 1mil/3mil.
This is the case because an employer's insurance will provide coverage for the supervisee only for actions taken "within the scope of their employment." If a claim is made against the supervisee, it is possible that the employer's insurance will contend that the claim does not pertain to activities within the scope of employment, resulting in a denial of coverage. An employer’s insurance is in place to protect the employer first. When it comes to legal defense, what is in the best interests of the employer may be at odds with what is in the best interest of the therapist. An individual professional liability policy will work exclusively in the clinician’s best interests.
All supervisees, primary and secondary, are required to hold a professional liability policy with Jeffery J Roskelley, LICSW and SOUND Life Recovery as additional insured and at limits described in our supervision agreement. This is a requirement because when supervisees work under Jeff’s license, Jeff and SOUND Life Recovery take on legal liability related to the supervisee’s actions and decisions.

Supervisees interested in private practice are responsible for all tasks related to building and running their own business. We may, on occasion, refer a potential client to a supervisee, but we don’t assist supervisees in marketing, building their caseload, or other business operations. Many of these hours will not be applicable to the
We can, however, offer basic guidance to clinicians who wish to establish a private practice in how to do so. These hours do not apply to accumulation of hours for licensure. -
